01Crack the 5-character alphanumeric password protecting the mainframe before your attempts run out.
02You have 7 attempts to identify the correct password. Each wrong guess consumes one attempt.
03The password contains a mix of letters (A–Z) and digits (0–9). Every game generates a brand new password.
HOW TO PLAY
01Type any 5-character combination of letters and numbers into the input boxes at the top of the screen.
02Press [ EXECUTE ] or hit Enter to submit your guess.
03Each submitted guess appears in the grid below, with every box colour-coded to give you intelligence about that character.
04Use the colour feedback to narrow down the password. Crack all 5 characters to breach the mainframe!
COLOUR INTEL KEY
A
GREEN — CONFIRMED
The character is correct and in the exact right position. Lock it in.
3
YELLOW — MISPLACED
The character exists in the password but is in the wrong position. Shift it.
Z
RED SHADES — CLOSE MISS (same type)
Both your guess and the answer have the same type (both letters or both digits) at this position, but they don't match.
· Bright red = very close alphabetically or numerically
· Dark red = far apart
?
GREY — TYPE MISMATCH
Your guess has a letter where the answer has a digit, or vice versa. No useful proximity info.
// EXAMPLE — answer is 4A97T, guess is 4XY3E //
ANSWER:
4
A
9
7
T
GUESS:
4
X
Y
3
E
4 → GREEN: correct position |
X → RED: letter, close to A |
Y → GREY: letter vs digit mismatch
3 → DARK RED: digit, far from 5 |
E → YELLOW: exists but wrong position
OPERATIVE TIPS
▸Start with a guess that mixes common letters and digits spread across the alphabet and 0–9 range to get maximum intel fast.
▸Green cells are solved — keep that character in that position on every future guess.
▸Yellow tells you where not to put it. Try it in a different position next round.
▸Bright red means you're very close in the alphabet (e.g. guessed C, answer is B). Nudge by one or two.
▸Grey reveals the type of that position. If your letter gets grey, the answer has a digit there — switch to a number next time.
▸You have 7 attempts. Don't panic — systematic elimination wins over lucky guessing.
